A brilliant weekend for the men’s teams as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs all recorded impressive victories 💚

The 1st XI beat Walshaw by 71 runs. After slipping to 92-7, the tail wagged superbly with Wes Hunt (25) and Sam Staley (31) helping Heywood recover to 178. In reply, Walshaw were never in the chase after Will Purser struck with the second ball of the innings. Purser finished with 5-25 and Greg Butterworth 4-35 as the hosts were bowled out for 107 💪

The 2nd XI recorded an excellent 25-run win over a strong Clifton side. Recovering from 8-3, Heywood posted 149 thanks to Mikey Grogan (38) and Bradley Gosling (21), aided by 40 extras. Clifton were then dismissed for 124 with spinners Grogan and Ollie Rawlinson starring with 3 and 4 wickets respectively 👏

Meanwhile the 3rd XI won a thriller away at Monton on Sunday. Aaron Russell led the batting with a classy 67, supported by Zak Saleem (38) and skipper Joe O’Neill (22), as Heywood made 184-5. A disciplined bowling and fielding display then restricted the hosts to 182 to secure a fantastic 2-run victory 🔥

Heywood Phoenix unfortunately slipped to a 60-run defeat against Winton on Sunday morning.
