Mixed fortunes across the club this weekend, with excellent wins for the 2nd XI, Development XI and Heywood Phoenix.
1st XI ❌
A disappointing performance saw Heywood bowled out for just 91 against Walshaw, with Marty Walters (51) accounting for more than half the total. Walshaw lost two wickets in reply, both to Ed Dickinson, but reached their target inside 24 overs.

2nd XI ✅
A brilliant 3-wicket victory over Clifton! Chasing 193, Andy Dawson (34) and 14-year-old Chris Fern added an important 71 for the third wicket before the game tightened up. Fern then combined with Ollie Rawlinson (26) in a match-winning 36-run eighth wicket partnership to see Heywood within touching distance. Fern batted superbly beyond his years, anchoring the chase and finishing unbeaten on a magnificent 67 as victory was secured with 8 balls to spare. 👏

Another excellent win on Sunday, beating Worsley by 57 runs. Heywood posted an impressive 214, with contributions throughout the order from Chris Fern (48), Zak Saleem (44), Oli Staley (39), Mhaaz Khan (29) and Haydn Evans (21). A good all-round bowling display then dismissed Worsley for 157.

The Phoenix continue to rise with an impressive 68-run victory away at Unsworth! Elli Clarkson starred once again with bat and ball, top scoring with 24 after claiming 3 wickets. Gabby McCulloch and youngster Asra Khan both picked up 2 wickets, while Jen Baker and Hayley Clarke also made valuable contributions with the bat.
